During the winter of 2021/22, I completed a ski season in Val D’Isère while undertaking an instructor course at the renowned BASI training center, ICE Val D’Isère. Alongside my training, I was tasked by the company to create a promotional video that would show their exceptional program and offer future students a glimpse into the unique experience. To achieve this, I conducted interviews with senior instructors and current students, documented our daily routines, and captured the swift, dynamic movements of students and coaches as they carved down the slopes. When filming on the slopes, I matched the pace of my subjects, creating smooth, crisp footage that highlighted the thrilling speed and technique of the training through the use of tracking with a gimbal whilst skiing or using a zoom setup when positioned on the side of the piste.
